Audition Day icons!

  • Nov. 8th, 2009 at 7:44 PM

I went to see 'Men Who Stare At Goats' today. It was HILARIOUS.
I now have a super crush on Ewan McGregor!! Plus I love the Clooney even more now.

I made some Audition Day icons - I can't get 30 Rock colouring the way I want it, it is driving me quite insane.

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, I'm sorry to bother you. My name is Jack and I have bed bugs. I'm not a drug addict. I'm an executive with the corporation and I just need to get my medicine. Someone could tell me how to transfer to the Four Train, I would be very grateful to you for your help. God bless you and have a good day. )

i've been contemplating non-cheesecake food that involves cheese and chocolate.
for example, later today i am going to make a grilled cheese of cheddar sandwiched between thinly sliced brownies, either pan fried or microwaved.
i'm mainly into cheddar and chocolate, but i also have pepper jack, colby jack, havarti, italian six cheese, mexican four cheese, parmesan and romano, american, and munchee cheese.

so what else should i try?

100 books by January 1st

  • Nov. 8th, 2009 at 1:47 PM
One of my New Year's resolutions/goals is to read 100 books in a year, and I'm on number 78. It's going to be really hard for me to read much in November because of NaNoWriMo, and I was wondering if I should read short easy books, or nice long books. I feel bad counting a hundred page book as one of my books, but it still counts, right? I don't know... I was just wondering what you would do I guess.

Hard Candy in Wal-Mart and Must Haves

  • Nov. 8th, 2009 at 2:42 PM
I went to Wal-Mart yesterday to discover Hard Candy cosmetics in there.  I checked the stand out and absolutely loved everything they had, and decently priced to boot :)  I'm sorta behind on make up (all I use is Avon eyeliner and mascara, replace them when I need to, and Carmex for dry lips), so I'm looking to restock on much needed items such as eyeshadow, lipstick, and nail polish.

So, of all the goodies Hard Candy has to offer, what are your favorites?  Anything to steer clear from?

How do you tell someone that they aren't smoking, just staining their teeth?

Here's the deal, for real... )

GOP Rep: "I Might Be A Closet Democrat"

Rep. Anh "Joseph" Cao, a Republican in a deeply Democratic Louisiana district, was welcomed on Tuesday night into the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus.

Addressing the group at a ceremony in the Capitol Visitors Center, Cao did a little bipartisan outreach.

"Don't tell the Republicans, but I might be a closet Democrat," said Cao to a round of laughter.

He then added that party shouldn't define a member of Congress and that "we are basically servants of the citizens of the United States."

THE SILENT CRY

  • Nov. 8th, 2009 at 2:40 PM
Screaming... No one hears... Crying... No one cares... Wondering... Getting no where... searching... Nothing there... Looking here... Finding empty space... Looking there... Finding a pretty face... Reaching out... Holding nothing... Feeling in... Feeling nothing... Lost is everyone... That I love... Lost am I... Soul screaming... No one hears!!! Soul crying... No one cares!!!

I did a little research on high fructose corn syrup last week, if anyone is interested in what the controversy is about, you can read about it here.

On a related note, does anyone have any tips or tricks for getting off the refined sugar train? I have diabetes in my family history but I like sweets and I like to bake :(

How do you differentiate being spacey from having ADD? I'm considering talking to my doctor about it, but I want to understand if I naturally have the attention span of a goldfish or if there is something I can do to fix it.

I need a program that I can use to resize mass quantities of pictures at once. I have Batch Image Resizer which I loooove, but it's only the trial version. Any recommendations?

Should take about 10 to 15 minutes! Thanks for your help! And if you know anyone else who might take it, forward away!

Invitation to Participate in Research Study: Mindfulness, Social Attitudes, and Bias Awareness

This is a web-based survey research study involving: mindfulness, social attitudes regarding eperience, comfort and appreciation with diversity, and awareness of personal bias. DAY 28

  • Nov. 8th, 2009 at 2:18 PM
OHmy Im almost done!
Andrew and I had a picnic yesterday. I made us sandwiches and packed some chips and grapes. Also went and bought some Arbor Mist yumm.
We woke up and ahd a really good talk this morning, which I think, and most certainly hope made some progress.
I work @ 5.
:D
Hello, booklovers. I have a feeling that mine is not an altogether right way of stepping here, but I do need some help from people who might be willing to provide it.
The thing is I have written a book. Yes, yes, I’m laughing myself. Nonetheless, please, do save your sense of humour for when you start reading it. Being a self-publishing writer, however – atrociously sad world, this one! – I am currently looking for several volunteers to proofread what my insolence considers as a work a merit. Don’t let the word “proofreading” scare you though. I don’t mean ‘editing’ it professionally, just seeing that the wording is in conformity with standard British English.
I hope my appeal for help does not hurt anybody’s feelings. If it does, I sincerely apologise.
For the same reason of being a self-publishing comrade, the only remuneration I am able to offer will be a free copy of the book along with your name in its Special Thanks list. Not very much, I know. I would LOVE to pay for proofing services, but self-publishing means you put your money into having your work published, but you very seldom make profits. I haven’t been one of those lucky guys.
If you’re curious, intrigued and tickled by any other feeling, you are more than welcome to visit the homepage of the future book, ‘The Red Britain Chronicles, or 4891: Comrade Cat, the Macho Axe Effect and the Human Gramophone’ at
http://sites.google.com/site/theredbritainchronicles/
where you can read sample chapters hereof and decide if you’d be tempted by my unappealing offer, or not really. I would even go as far as advising you to get acquainted with the sample chapters in the first place so that, one day soon, you do not find yourselves wondering how you could have accepted to proof a book which is poor or not exactly to your taste.
British English as your mother tongue would be sort of a plus in my case. (apologies if I sound in any way condescending or arrogant - I did not mean to sound this way at all!!!!!!!) Thank you for your patience and attention! And an excellent day to everyone!
Alexander
ps. May I ask you to respond to this post by sending me a private message (or ideally reply to my email - theredbritainchronicles@gmail.com ), instead of posting comments? I haven’t figured out yet how I can follow posts on this site. Thank you!

At what age is it inappropriate to be dressing and/or styling/coloring your hair in a punk/scene/goth/indie/hipster/whatever style?

Does gender matter? What about professions?

I don't want to get into the details about what constitutes certain styles and labels. Just talking in a general sense.

Hollywood Gods and Goddesses

  • Nov. 8th, 2009 at 7:04 PM
Hia. I'm doing a piece of coursework on world mythology, and as one of the sections I'm writing about how different gods and goddesses are portrayed in the movies. At the moment I have seen

The Sinbad Films (Ray Harryhausen)
Jason and the Argonauts (Ray Harryhausen)
Clash of the Titans
Hercules (Disney)
Ghostbusters
King Kong
Godzilla
The Mummy Trilogy
Spirited Away
Stargate
Thief of Bagdhad

Can you think of any others that I can add to the list to use in my coursework?
